Family Food Traditions
Baking runs through generations of our family of strong, resourceful hardworking women, who passed down the traditions and quiet secrets of Norwegian food preparation.
Those same food traditions with my mother who in 1964 immigrated to the United States with my Danish father.
Each generation has found its own specialty—my mother is known for her creativity in the kitchen and especially her fragrant cardamom breads. I am the pie baker and Kranskekake maker, and my sister for her artistry in cookies.
What we share is a deep respect for craft, care, and the joy of making something meant to be gathered around and remembered.
